As U.S airlines had previously announced, they would begin ordering large amounts of aircraft in order to replace their aging fleets of many aircraft specially the 757,well... American Airlines ordered more than 450 aircraft with options for another 400, of both the A320 Family and the 737 Family, while it was expected for Delta to announce wether it would order newer aircraft or not.
Delta recently announced they had ordered 100 737-900ER from Boeing in order to begin replacion from 2013 their aging fleets of DC-9s, 757s, and older A320s, while Delta has cut capacity on Domestic and Trans-Atlantic flights, their Trans-Pacific flights have remained the same, and their Latin American flights have increased capacity.
